These are our Ride or Die locations... Here's why!

You've chosen the date you two tie the knot, your Pinterest board is full of dreamy inspiration for what is bound to be the most memorable day of your lives and you're itching to send out Save the Date cards to the loved one's who will be there along your journey, basking in your love.

We've put together a list of the most romantic locations in Oregon for your Engagement Photos that are sure to authentically reflect your love story.

#3 - Smith Rock State Park, Terrebonne, Oregon

Just forty minutes past the sweet town of Sisters, Oregon, Smith Rock State Park reminds us of a miniature version of the Grand Canyon. Smith Rock State Park has both hiking and walking trials, with 360 degree backdrops of serene beauty. One of my favorite aspects of the park is the versatility of the landscape; you can both find shade for adventurous portraits in the canyon during the hours of direct sunlight as well as catch the sunset through the canyon walls for more intimate, (and steamy) documentary style photographs.

#2 - Cape Kiwanda Beach, Pacific City, Oregon

If warm editing is the style of photography that resinates the deepest for you, Cape Kiwanda is a breeze for photographers to bring out the warmest and dreamiest tones because of the already rich, red rock formations and sand. At the end of the north shoreline you'll find a massive sand dune that resembles that of a vast desert. If windswept, documentary style portraits are what you're after for your engagement photos, Cape Kiwanda Beach is the perfect setting.

Here's the address to the Pelican Brewery, adjacent to this beach front restaurant is Cape Kiwanda's parking lot:

#1 - Devil's Punchbowl Natural State Area

Devil's Punchbowl Natural State Area is my personal favorite location in Oregon for shooting engagement portraits for it's high walls that block out heavy winds and allow for warmth during Oregon's colder months, the rich, red toned rock formations that cater excellently to my personal, warm editing style and variety of backdrop variations in the one location. Devil's Punchbowl is just eight miles north of, Newport, Oregon, fourteen minutes from Yaquina Head Lighthouse and nine minutes from Agate Beach. (I'll link these direction variations below) If you're planning a multiple location engagement session within a limited timeframe, Devil's Punchbowl Natural State Area is an excellent starting point!

Bonus Locations

If you're a native Oregonian like myself, your sure to have a special place in your heart for the evergreens we are so lucky to have. Did you know that in Oregon we have what feels like a never ending amount of BLM roads and other timber units owned by companies who allow hiking and other recreation? Finding these locations takes time, research and out in the field exploration. If this is the kind of location you dream of having your engagement photos shot at, take the time to find a photographer who offers Adventure Sessions. One who's done their research and knows how to safely (and ethically) navigate the backwoods. My partner in business and adventure, Bruce has a serious talent for discovering new, breathtaking overlooks. An adventure session in the Pacific Northwest is something you need embark on AT LEAST once in your life. You won't regret it.
